Farewell to Two Amazing Bass Players

Two amazing jazz bassists recently passed away and we decided to share a little information on them; it's never too late to become a fan:

Detroit-born Al McKibbon, bassist on Miles Davis' legendary "Birth of the Cool," has died aged 89. McKibbon also worked with the fabled Jazz at the Philharmonic, and with Coleman Hawkins, Buck Clayton and Thelonious Monk. He played on Monk's last recording in 1972.

Bassist Keter Betts, long-time accompanist of Ella Fitzgerald, who also played with Count Basie, Clifford Brown, Hank Jones and Dinah Washington, and was a member of the Charlie Byrd Trio in the early 60s died last week at the age of 77.
