African Book Market is a FREE 5-hour book fair designed with the reader of literature from Africa in mind. With the largest array of writing by Africans published in the UK available in one space – at discounted prices – with books from small presses as well as heavyweights like Random House/Vintage, Profile/Serpents Tail, little brown/Virago and Routledge/Wasafiri. This year’s event will have on public display books from the relaunched African Writers’ Series from Penguin/Pearson. All books will sell at no more than £5 (paperback) or £10 (hardback/trade paperback) and, this year, there will be a panel of writers and readers discussing books and reading in post-Arab spring Africa – what has come to pass and what is to come, the impact that current trends and events might have culturally, socially and politically in the next 20 years.

Panel Speakers: Dr Ike Anya, Kingwa Kamencu, Leeto Thale and Rachida Lamrabet. Moderated by Nii Ayikwei Parkes.
