The Poem: Let's Get Ready To Rumble - (extract)
Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Madison Satellite
Garden here on Moon Base Five
I the Beyonder will be your host throughout this cycle
if you manage to stay alive
So make sure you've paid up your pay per view, grab a
drink relax and pull up a pew
For what can only be described as the most anticipated
match up this side of the Universe.
In the red corner we have the challenger
Weighing in at a combined weight of approximately 780
billion pounds
The horrifyingly humungous Humankiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiind.
And in the blue corner we have the undisputed champion
of the first sector of the cosmos
Weighing in at a estimated weight of 650 trillion
trillion pounds
The Mercilessly Masterful Mother Earrrrrrrrrrth.
The referee TIME calls both opponents together to have
a few words
Humankind stares arrogantly at Mother Earth oblivious
of TIME as if not a word is heard.
Both opponents now back up to their respective corners
Ding.Round one
And so it begins...
With the understanding that there can be only one.
Humankind starts of this bout in tremendously
aggressive fashion jabbing Mother Earth all over the body
Digging holes in pursuit of gold, diamonds and all
manner of valuable ores.
At this stage it seems as if Humankind is trying to
dig down to Mother Earth's very core
Mother Earth on the other hand having such a big build
seems slow to react
With either an aggressive or defensive tac-tic
Humankind moves around with ease
Nimble and quick he seems to be showboating to signal
this bout will be a breeze.
Oh my gosh!
Humankind seems to have set his own rules
He's getting to grips with Mother Earth physically via
the throat choking her full of fumes
Burning fossil fuels at a rate of knots
Releasing carbon so Mother Earth will die of
Oxid-ation
This is indeed an extremist in operation
Not since the cretaceous period some 65 million years ago
Have I the Beyonder beheld such a battle between
a challenger and Mother Earth the undisputed Queen.
In that memorable bout Mother Earth produced some
magical motions to dismiss the then challenger the
dinosaurs to utter extinction.
But I must say though during this bout Humankind has
been clearly on top as we approach the end of the
first round
But don't make the mistake of thinking Mother Earth
has been a flop for this is her usual pattern of
fighting
And as I say that
Humankind lays into Mother Earth once again - gassing
her continually with the release of CFCs
Mother Earth is clearly feeling the impact of his
blows judging by the pained expression on her face.
Ding.
